Sorensen announce a new touchscreen controlled DC power supply series

The SGX series builds on the existing Sorensen SG series, adding touchscreen control and advanced sequencing capabilities.  The basis of the system is a 5kW power module.  Depending on the required output voltage, up to six power modules can be configured to provide from 5kW to 30kW in a single chassis. Multiple chassis can then be paralleled to achieve up to 150kW, all with control from a single master unit so that they behave as a single power supply.

The SGX was designed with an emphasis on load transient response and low noise, both electronic and acoustic.  The supply recovers to within ±0.75% of full scale of steady state output for a 50% to 100% or 100% to 50% load step in around 1ms. Knowing that space is money, the SGX series has been designed with very high power density (up to 15kW in 3U) and the ability to be rack mounted without spacing between units by virtue of the front to back air-flow with temperature controlled fans.  This space saving is partly made possible by the efficiency of the units - at 87% typical at nominal line and maximum load, there are savings to be made in space utilization, power consumption and thermal management.

The SGX product line complies with all EMI and EMC Safety requirements as well as EU RoHS directives and is available in the UK through TTid.  Lead times are expected to initially be 10 to 12 weeks, coming down as production ramps up.
